Putting this note here, though I have read a bit ahead.
I might be projecting my own hopes on the story, but I feel like it has elements of “Mindwalk,” (1990, movie), “Scooby Doo,” and maybe (dialogue-driven style) “Beautiful Girls.”
Good stuff. Dig the cover art too. Fantastic match.
I have a rough draft story that is different, but attempts a similar dialogue technique. This is so helpful. I like your POV choice and narrator distance. I need to rethink my whole (life) approach. Ha ha.
Incredibly high praise, Guy. Mindwalk and Beautiful Girls are new to me and I'll run to check them out. But you're spot on with the Scooby Doo + (Fill in the blank)!
Those movies are a treat. They stick with you. When I dig into my old project to rewrite it, I’ll reach out again to check out your rough draft. All hands on deck for that adventure. Thanks!
i'm in LOVE with the cover!!! the art is simply gorgeous and there's a cat!!! (i LOVE CATS)
there's also so many great lines here!! i'm especially a fan of "I believe in strong coffee, and little else." and the way you set a mysterious, sort of ominous, tone with "The haunted house changed all that", and the unlikely friendship they form! I can't wait to read the rest!
There's a lot of good conflict built in here. Will the new lady have a good time in such a spiritual environment? Will Santi try to steal her away? Will she react badly and question or flat-out insult the party's hosts? So many good questions.
This is gonna be fun!
You really ground the protagonist in a way that will make it feel all the more real when things get strange.
And they do!
This serial is awesome!

Let me know if you want eyes on the rough draft.

I’m glad you noticed the cat. The illustrator puts his cat in most of his work.
This is fun and quite a set-up for what might happen next! I hope he brings his gf for the adventure...
who knows… me, I do. And you can too if you want to read the next installment! Thanks for stopping by.

I wish you’d turn the prologue into a short story of this own. With such interesting characters and setting I wanted to know more.
